Eskom invites bids for 400 kV transmission line

State-owned power utility Eskom has invited bids for the construction of the Borutho–Witkop portion of the 400 kV transmission lines that form part of the Medupi power station integration project.

The Medupi power station integration project is part of the Eskom investment support project, for which the World Bank has provided $3.75-billion in financing. Bidding will be conducted through bidding procedures specified by the bank, and will be open to bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the bank’s guidelines.

Scope of Work

The scope of the work to be undertaken includes a line survey, tower foundations, the supply, assembly and erection of structural steel towers and the installation of all hardware and insulators.

Bidding documents will be available from September 5, with bidding closing on October 21.
