JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – TSX-listed gold miner Endeavour Mining has appointed Jeremy Langford COO, effective July 17.

Currently Endeavour projects and technical services group VP, Langford will succeed Attie Roux, who is retiring after seven years with the company.

Langford will continue to oversee projects and technical service activities, which will allow the company to be more streamlined.

“Given the importance of our project pipeline, we believe this integration will benefit both the upcoming commissioning of our Houndé project and the construction of our Ity carbon-in-leach project, which we anticipate will be built while continuing to run the existing heap leach operation,” said CEO Sebastien de Montessus.

The development of the Houndé project, in Burkina Faso, and the Ity project, in Côte d'Ivoire, are expected to lift Endeavour's group production to 900 000 oz/y, while decreasing its average all-in sustaining costs to around $800/oz, by 2019.

Langford has worked in the gold mining, nickel, iron-ore and oil and gas industries for the past 17 years and has held a number of key management positions.

He has been with Endeavour since 2009, with extensive West African experience.
