Electronic equipment supplier attends Limpopo mining exhibition

GROOTEGELUK COAL MINE The Lephalale mine is one of the largest opencast coal mines in the world

Global engineering solutions distributor RS Components SA attended the Mining & Technical Travelling Exhibition (MTE) Lephalale Mining and Industrial Expo on September 1, at the Mogol Club in Lephalale, in Limpopo, home to Grootegeluk, one of the largest opencast coal mines in the world, as well as several of State-owned power utility Eskom’s coal-fired power station projects, including Medupi.

Event organiser MTE, therefore, describes Lephalale as an apt location to host an MTE event. MTE Lephalale celebrated its twelfth exhibition this year. Its objective was to create a space where suppliers could offer “innovative products and technology” to visitors from projects in the area, “the fastest growing industrial area in South Africa”.

MTE has been in operation since 1993 and organises events in major metropolitan areas in South Africa. Through collaboration with mining houses, MTE is able to tailor each event to fit the needs of mines in the surrounding areas.

RS Components displayed its new RS Pro range, which includes test and measurement devices used for process control and essential workshop products.

RS Pro is the new private label tool and electronic device range from RS Components that caters to the needs of engineers and procurement specialists, with products engineered for demanding industrial environments. This range offers a variety of equipment to support planned and emergency maintenance needs, which includes heavy-duty cabinets and tool modules, lead-acid batteries, light emitting diode lamps, extension reels, cable ties and fastener kits.

RS Components also offers several electrical test and measurement devices from electronic measuring equipment supplier Testo, such as the Testo 350 emission analyser used to measure exhaust emissions from mining or process equipment. The company also offers the Testo 770 clamp meter range, which is ideally suited to current measurement in switching cabinets, as the device’s unique grab mechanism allows one of the pincer arms to be fully retracted to capture cables in tight spaces.

Additionally, the RS Pro range features test and measurement company Tektronix’s USB real-time spectrum analyser, the latest radio frequency (RF) signal analysis tool offered by RS Components. It has improved functionality for electronics design engineers working with RF signals and is ideal for field and factory use.

RS also supplies information on its range of essential workshop products, such as adhesives, tapes, tools, personal protection equipment and labels.
