Dust-A-Side

Dust control management firm Dust-A-Side provides total dust control management systems, treating more than ten-million square metres of haul roads in opencast and underground mines globally. The company tailors its offering for the requirements of each mine site, ensuring maximum benefit in dust reduction.

Its robust sealed haul road surfaces allow haul trucks and other vehicles to operate safely in all weather conditions. This is achieved with greater fuel efficiency and safety, and reduced wear and tear on vehicles. Water saving is one of the biggest reasons for employing Dust-A-Side which has recorded savings of more than 90% on certain mines.

Dust-A-Side uses mine-site specific, dedicated and skilled personnel to build, maintain and manage mine-site road surfaces and associated fugitive dust. Fugitive dust is particulate matter that becomes airborne, is not emitted from a stack or vent and has the potential to adversely affect human health or the environment.

The company’s fugitive dust technology includes an innovative high-pressure mist spray system (dust suppression system), proprietary chemical application and qualified dust control maintenance.

Dust-A-Side has incorporated monitoring and evaluation tools that aid in quantifying the results of the dust management solution, offering further value and savings. The Dust-A-Side value measurement system is a scientifically designed and validated system for dust concentration measurement and haul roads condition monitoring and reporting.

The company is headquartered in Pretoria, South Africa, and employs 650 people. It also has a presence in Botswana, Ghana, Mozambique, Morocco, Namibia and Zambia, as well as in Australia and Chile. Dust-A-Side has been trading in South Africa since 1989 with technology that has been developed and refined over the past 30 years.

The company has ISO 9001 and 14001 certification.
