Dragline To Take Centre Stage At Upcoming Clearance Auction

Company Annoucement - Park Village Auctions will soon bring to market a showstopper in the form of a Bucyrus walking dragline. The dragline forms part of a large collection of assets being made available by De Beers at an upcoming final clearance sale at their premises in Namaqualand. The dragline is complete and is described as being in good working condition. It is also being auctioned with and without various associated items. For example, the new owners will be entitled to five rolls of trailing cable and connection boxes. The full list of inclusions and exclusions as well as the dragline’s service and repairs history are available via PVA.

Says PVA’s Dr Bertie Saunderson: “PVA has auctioned some large and impressive assets in its time but this dragline is arguably one of the largest and definitely doesn’t fail to impress. It’s in great condition and should appeal to expanding mining concerns interested in stepping up their game.” The dragline has been cleared by security but is still parked in De Beers’ mine area at the dragline pad. The dragline will be cordoned off for the duration of the disposal process. Other assets being made available via the sale include, amongst others, a Komatsu K-Bed trailer, an exploration, screening and bagging mobile sample handling unit, a Finlay Terex screen, induction motors, Kelly drilling rods, old tyres, cable reels and  trailers.

The assets will be auctioned by way of PVA’s revolutionary online bidding platform which greatly simplifies and enhances the bidding process notes Saunderson. Registration will open on Monday the 22nd of September at 8am. The online bidding window will open on Thursday the 2nd of October at 9am. Onsite viewing of the dragline will take place on the 29th of September at 9am. All other assets can be viewed on the 30th of September at 9am, 11am and 2pm, otherwise online or by prior arrangement. The viewing assembly point is De Beers Namaqualand. The security checkpoint is located at Kleinzee.
Given the location of the assets, interested parties may wish to book accommodation in Kleinzee or Springbok. A small airstrip also lies within close reach of Kleinzee. A full list of accommodation options and comprehensive information on the airstrip is available via PVA.

Please note: PPE is compulsory. All parties must also comply with De Beers’ safety compliance requirements. Full details relating to De Beers’ best practice, principles, policies and control guidelines are also available upon request. The deadline for the removal of the assets (other than the dragline) is the 31st of October.  For a full inventory and pictures, log on to www.parkvillage.co.za , web reference 9784.
