Multidisciplinary global engineering group DRA has appointed Pierre Julien executive VP: origination to lead the company’s global origination team.

With more than 22 years of senior-level industry experience, Julien has been tasked with identifying and accessing new business channels, seeking opportunities for growth into adjacent sectors and developing innovative ways to enhance the company’s service offering to clients.

DRA Group Holdings CEO Wray Carvelas said in a release to Creamer Media’s Mining Weekly that the appointment followed an extensive talent search, in which Julien distinguished himself as a thought leader with the required skills and experience to help the company realise its global growth strategy.

Prior to joining DRA, Julien served as VP for business development and engineering procurement construction partner management at minerals and metals processing technology company Outotec.

A graduate of the Haileybury School of Mines, he holds an MBA degree from Queen’s University, in Kingston, Ontario, and holds executive and board-level positions with the Canadian Mineral Processors Society and the Canadian Institute of Mines, Metallurgy and Petroleum.

From his primary base at DRA’s Toronto office, he will embark on a global tour of the business in the coming months.

Having originated in South Africa, DRA now delivers mining, mineral processing, energy, water treatment and infrastructure services from concept to commissioning from offices in Africa, Australia, Canada, China, India and the US.
