PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Project house Downer EDI has been awarded a letter of intent over a $70-million underground contract at the CSA copper mine, in New South Wales.

Downer said on Monday that the letter of intent was subject to the parties executing a binding agreement.

The contract would run for a period of two years, starting in July this year, with the option to extend the contract for an additional year. The scope of work would include mechanised decline and lateral development mining and haulage, as well as the provision of ground support services.

A subsidiary of mining major Glencore owns the mine, which produces about 1.1-million tonnes of copper ore a year, for yearly production of 185 000 t of copper-in-concentrate.
