Cunningham steps down as Auroch MD

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mozambique-focused gold producer Auroch Minerals on Monday announced that MD Dean Cunningham would step down with immediate effect as the company’s Manica gold project, in Mozambique, gained momentum and moved into the development and construction phase.

He would remain on at the company as a consultant assisting the executive chairperson in securing ongoing project financing from South African banks required for the development phase of the project. 

“The company is moving into an exciting development phase. Dean remains a significant shareholder and a valued contributor to the company in a consultant capacity,” newly appointed executive chairperson Glenn Whiddon commented.

Whiddon had previously been a nonexecutive chairperson of the company.

Meanwhile, Professor Jim Porter would assume the role of COO with immediate effect.

Auroch also appointed Nicholas Ong as nonexecutive director. Ong had spent seven years as principal adviser at the ASX overseeing the listings of more than a hundred companies.

Since then he had also worked as a director and company secretary to listed companies and had developed a wide network of private client advisers, high net worth individuals and sovereign fund managers.

Ong also currently held the position of executive director of ASX-listed Excelsior Gold.
