Company adds pinch valves to product offering

7th March 2014

Engineering solutions provider BMG’s Fluid Power division has extended its range of FPV valves to include open-frame pinch valves, designed for enhanced operating efficiency and extended service life in diverse sectors, including mining.

These valves, which launched in August 2013, are best suited for the control and isolation of abrasive slurries on mines.

“These new open-frame pinch valves, which have been developed on the successful design of valve specialist company Omsa’s patented FPV diaphragm valves, can also be fitted with replaceable polyurethane-lined rubber sleeves as an option,” says BMG Fluid Power division GM Wayne Holton.

He explains that the new sleeve design increases the life span of the valve, owing to the high abrasion resistance of the poly-urethane lining, which replaces conventional rubber sleeves.

Pinch valves, designed to seal mechanically, or automatically when the sleeve pinches – owing to fluid pressure in the body of the valve – are able to control the flow of liquids, powders, solids and abrasives.

The valves are available with a short- and long-frame design, in diameter sizes that range from DN50 to DN500, with special face-to-face dimensions and larger sizes available on request. The body of the valve is made from cast steel, but is also available in stainless steel for specific applications. The valves have manual, pneumatic and hydraulic actuation.

FPV diaphragm and pinch valves are locally manufactured and available in several different materials with various pressure ratings to meet exact requirements.

Repair kits for FPV valves, which consist of a spare liner, spare diaphragm, fasteners and lubricants, are also available ex-stock from BMG.

The company’s range of branded valves include resilient seated gate valves, butterfly valves and ball-type check valves. Also included in the range are knife-gate valves, thermoplastic valves, pinch valves and angle seat valves. The most popular valves in the company’s portfolio are FPV diaphragm, wedge-gate and pinch valves.

BMG boasts a technical support service to ensure optimum efficiency and an extended service life for every valve. The company also offers a total process and lubrication manage-ment solution to meet market demand.
