PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Centre for Australian Ethical Research (CAER) on Friday rejected claims that it would rewrite its profile of copper miner Sandfire Resource, which resulted in the Australian National University (ANU) dumping its stock earlier this month.
Following a review by CAER, the ANU took the decision to divest of stocks in seven resource companies, including Iluka Resources, Newcrest Mining, Sandfire, Santos and Sirius Resources.
Australian papers on Friday quoted Sandfire MD Karl Simich as saying that the company had provided CAER with information, which would now be incorporated into a new profile.
“The updated profile will be materially different,… and the ANU will hopefully then have a different view on Sandfire,” Simich is quoted as saying.
However, CAER on Friday rejected reports that a rewrite was necessary, saying it “categorically stands by the research it supplied to the ANU”.
