TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Lithium producer Canada Lithium on Wednesday produced the first battery-grade lithium carbonate sample from its processing plant near Val d'Or, Québec.
The initial commissioning of the solvent extraction and bicarbonate sections of the hydrometallurgical circuit had resulted in producing a number of batches of 99.5%, 99.6% and up to 99.9% pure, battery-grade material.
Canada Lithium said sample shipments were en route to offtake partner, the Tewoo Group, in China, as provided for in a five-year offtake agreement.
The company continued to make progress with commissioning all the plant hydrometallurgical circuits and was ramping up throughput.
