Bluejay makes key feasibility appointments, changes project name

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mineral sands project developer Bluejay Mining on Friday announced the appointment of four consultants to advance key elements of the feasibility study for its newly renamed Dundas ilmenite project, in Greenland.

The consultants that will work on the feasibility study for the project, which was formerly known as the Pituffik titanium project, include SRK Consulting, IHC Robbins (IHCR), Royal IHC (IHC) and Amec Foster Wheeler Americas.

SRK Consulting will update the resource statement, prepare the mining schedule and assess water management aspects. It will also review the feasibility study as a whole. IHCR will complete the process plant engineering and design study, while IHC will finalise a dredging study and Amec will undertake the infrastructure and services part of the study.

"IHC, IHCR and SRK are all leaders in their field and have a long history of working with the company, with a solid understanding of the Dundas ilmenite project.  We are accordingly delighted to be working with them once more.  Alongside this, we are pleased to be able to add Amec to our group of advisers. Their proven knowledge and understanding of climate, logistics, minerology and process design will be invaluable as we now refine and finalise our production plans.

"With this exemplary team behind us, we are poised to complete the feasibility study during the first quarter of 2018 and advance into our next phase of growth,” commented Bluejay CEO Roderick McIllree.

The project's name was changed to Dundas to align with a new Greenlandic subsidiary and to assist with the exploitation application documentation.
