PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Blackham Resources has started wet commissioning at the Wiluna gold plant, at its 5.1-million-ounce Matilda gold project, in Western Australia.

Openpit and underground development work at Matilda started in August, and Blackham said on Monday that run-of-mine stockpiles had reached 145 000 t, grading 1.4 g/t gold for 6 800 oz.

First gold pour at the Wiluna plant is expected within the next three weeks.

The Wiluna plant is located at the centre of the Matilda project and can process up to 1.7-million tonnes a year, or some 100 000 oz/y.

The expanded Matilda gold project includes Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant measured, indicated and inferred resources of 48-million tons at 3.3 g/t for 5.1-million ounces within an 860 km2 exploration tenement package and has historically produced more than 4.3-million ounces.
