Big growth plans for 15-year strong company

From humble beginnings in the opencast coal mines of Witbank, in Mpumalanga, fluid handling solutions provider Industrial Fluid Solutions (IFS) now boasts distribution across South Africa, through a network of resellers.

Focused on servicing the mining sector, IFS intends to build its presence further in the Northern Cape, Limpopo and in the platinum belt in the North West. Throughout Africa, IFS is concentrating on supplying Namibia; the Copperbelt, which covers Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo; and Tete, in Mozambique. “But there is still a lot of scope for us locally.” Prospective resellers in the mining, agricultural, construction and workshop equipment fields are invited to contact their customer service department at sales.support@ifsworld.co.za.

Fourie says part of the company’s expansion strategy involves the launch of an e-commerce platform this year to host its array of products, including automated greasing, bulk transfer systems and workshop equipment, mainly imported from Italy and the US.

“This will improve accessibility to our range and improve the technical selection process for our consumers.”

The company incorporates a manufacturing division called Tankkraft, which produces mobile solutions for the handling of new and used lubricants with trolleys, trailers and specialised truck bodies. It's newly formed technology division, Lumier Control Systems, specialises in fluid management and control of pumping systems, and level indication, with special interest in personnel identification and machine monitoring.

“We have always been technologically driven, and I believe that has placed us in a competitive position,” states Fourie, noting that the company is always striving to improve efficiency, as that is “the key to success”.

Improving its flexibility, IFS has moved to a modern, centrally located office complex with better equipped workshop space to accommodate its ever-growing manufacturing division.   Currently employing in excess of 70 personnel, IFS is recognised as a stable and progressive employer and offers opportunities for forward thinking self-starters in various technical, financial, administrative and commercial roles.
