JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed Beowulf Mining has appointed SRK Consulting to complete a scoping study for its Kallak magnetite iron-ore project, in the Jokkmokk municipality of Sweden.

Announcing the award of the contract on Monday, Beowulf CEO Kurt Budge said that the investment in the scoping study was being made in the belief that the company had satisfied the requirements to be granted an exploitation concession for the Kallak North deposit.

Beowulf has been attempting to secure the concession for Kallak North for some time and has been lobbying government for the necessary approvals.

"I am excited to be breathing life into the Kallak project, and further demonstrating our commitment to investing in Jokkmokk's future.  Initiating a Scoping Study is a step we have been waiting to take for almost three years, and it will be great to share with the community the project development roadmap for advancing Kallak towards production,” Budge said in a statement.

SRK has already started work and is expected to complete the scoping study by the end of February.
