Battery Hill high-purity manganese sulphate project, Canada

Name of the Project
Battery Hill high-purity manganese sulphate (HPMSM) project.

Location
Near Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada.

Project Owner/s
Manganese X.

Project Description
Positive results have been announced from the independent preliminary economic assessment (PEA).

The PEA mine plan envisages a conventional openpit mining using a contract mining equipment fleet at a mining rate of one-million tonnes a year to provide a mill feed of 365 000 t/y, or 1 000 t/d. Average production is estimated at 68 000 t/y HPMSM.

The ultimate pits and mine plan use an elevated cutoff grade strategy to drive the project economics. Using a stockpile for mineralised material allows for higher-grade material to be processed early in the mine life to enhance project economics and sustain mill operations 24/7 at a central processing facility.

The proposed process for treating Battery Hill manganese resources is a whole ore sulphuric acid slurry leach performed under conditions which result in the formation of a filterable residue.

The project will have a 40-year mine life, with a two-year preproduction period, and seven years of stockpile reclaim feed.
