Avanco ups copper and gold output

PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Avanco Resources has reported an increase in copper and gold production from its Antas mine, in Brazil, during the three months to June.

Copper-in-concentrate production during the second quarter reached 3 589 t, compared with the 3 506 t in the previous quarter, while gold-in-concentrate production increased from 2 783 oz to 2 961 oz during the same period.

Avanco on Wednesday reported that for the first half of 2017, copper production reached 7 095 t, while gold production was reported at 5 744 oz in 25 288 t of concentrate.

The company told shareholders that as the Antas mine exited the wet season, the operation was forecast to continue with higher mining rates in preparation for the start of the next wet season in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, during the quarter some 6.9-million pounds of copper-in-concentrate was sold, compared with the 7.9-million pounds in the previous quarter, while gold sales decreased from 2 607 oz to 2 506 oz, resulting in gross provisional sales of A$21.2-million.

At the end of June, Avanco also forward sold 2 450 t of copper at an average price of A$5 783/t.
