The city of Casa Grande, in Arizona, has approved the rezoning of the northern parcel of TSX-listed copper developer Arizona Sonoran Copper Company’s MainSpring property for industrial use.

This allows the company to start drilling and other exploration work.

The southern parcel of the Parks/Salyer South property is still in the process of being approved for rezoning.

The company has also acquired a 2.5 acre mineral exploration permit within the Parks/Salyer deposit, giving the company access to a low-risk, high-impact exploration target.

The Parks/Salyer mineral resource currently contains 2.9-billion pounds of copper at a grade of 1.015%.

Arizona is working to publish an updated mineral resource estimate on the entire Cactus project, inclusive of Parks/Salyer, in the fourth quarter.

“Our team is appreciative of the ongoing support from the city of Casa Grande and our stakeholders in every step of redeveloping the Cactus mine. Rezoning the north parcel continues to open up new land at Cactus for future operations, and adds the potential for incremental mineral resource growth,” comments sustainability and external relations VP Travis Snider.
