JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) –TSX-V-listed diamond exploration company Arctic Star has wholly acquired the Diamond Dune project in the Saskatchewan province’s Athabasca Basin, the company announced on Friday.

The new exploration project consists of two separate claim blocks totalling 40 832 ha located south-west and south-east of properties currently being explored for diamonds by DeBeers Canada and Canalaska Uranium, which have both announced a $20.4-million computer aided design option agreement to explore 75 kimberlite-style magnetic targets identified by Canalaska from an airborne geophysical survey by the Saskatchewan Geological Survey.

DeBeers recently completed esker sampling for kimberlite indicator minerals in the area and has started detailed magnetic mapping of geophysical anomalies.
