PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Lithium miner Altura Mining is making strides towards declaring commercial production at its namesake project in Western Australia, with daily output achieving nameplate capacity on multiple occasions.

Altura on Tuesday reported the Stage 1 operation had achieved multiple daily production levels at or above the 220 000 t/y nameplate capacity, with daily production reaching up to 700 t of spodumene concentrate, compared with the 640 t/d nameplate target, with overall recovery of more than 70%.

“We now have a high level of confidence that we can achieve nameplate capacity in the near future,” said Altura MD James Brown.
