JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Alliance Resources on Monday announced that its first shipment of uranium ore concentrate from its Four Mile mine, in South Australia, had reached Canada and that a second shipment was due to land in that country in mid-October.
Alliance said the first shipment of 300 000 lb occurred in September, but that details were kept under wraps owing to security reasons. The second shipment contains 210 000 lb.
The uranium ore concentrate was shipped to Cameco Corporation’s facility at Blind River, Ontario, to undergo further testing prior to sale.
The Four Mile project was officially opened in June, after commissioning started in March. The first shipment was delayed owing to limited availability of maritime transport.
Four Mile is a joint venture with Quasar Resources, which owns 75% of the mine.
