TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Dual-listed Alacer Gold has poured its millionth ounce of gold from its flagship Çöpler mine, in Turkey, since first pour on December 22, 2010.

"This milestone was attained while recording almost seven-million man hours worked without a lost-time injury,” said president and CEO Rod Antal.

“This is a tangible reflection of the world-class nature of the Çöpler mine and its employees, whose commitment and dedication will ensure the safe and successful production of Çöpler's next one-million ounces."

The Toronto-based company reported that Çöpler's first one-million ounces were processed from 33.6-million tonnes of ore, grading at an average of 1.6 g/t, and average cash costs of $401/oz.

The company also remained focused on achieving the necessary key milestones to advance the Çöpler sulphide project into the construction phase and to deliver the project on schedule in late 2017.

Alacer had in April increased the production expectations at Çöpler from between 180 000 oz and 200 000 oz to between 190 000 oz and 210 000 oz of gold. This revised guidance stemmed from increased oxide output from 2015 to 2019 as the proposed sulphide plant at the Çöpler mine came into full production.
