Africa’s gas-to-power potential on show at Onshore Gas Africa 2015

Company Announcement - Musi Mkhize from the Department of Energy will be delivering a governmental keynote address at the inaugural Onshore Gas Africa conference. Mr Mkhize will be providing attendees with an update on South Africa’s Gas Utilisation Masterplan on the morning of day 1. The event is set to be held at the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel on the 21-22 April 2015.

Attendees will explore the challenges and opportunities created by natural gas, shale gas, coal bed methane, underground coal gasification as alternative energy sources to coal-fired power stations.

The conference commences on Tuesday the 21st April with opening remarks from chairperson Ebrahim Takolia, CEO, South African Oil & Gas Alliance. SAOGA are also the official event supporters. Other speakers for the day include: Murray Douglas, Wood Mackenzie; Robert Jeffrey, Econometrix; Duncan Bonnett, Whitehouse & Associates; Pierre Joubert, Challenger Energy; Senior representative, Sasol Mining; Shepherd Shonhiwa, Egoli Gas; Paul Eardley-Taylor, Standard Bank; Dolapo Oni, Ecobank Capital; Godwin Sweto, Encorex. Networking drinks conclude the day’s proceedings.

Day one will cover market review and the outlook for gas, project updates and the financing and monetisation of gas.

Day two will start with opening remarks from the day 2 chairperson with further presentations from: Senior representative, National Energy Regulator South Africa; Lindiwe Mekwe, Petroleum Agency South Africa; Luke Havemann, Havemann Inc; Portia Manuel, PetroSA; Johan Brand, African Carbon Energy; Angelo Dabala, Ochre Energy.
