African Barrick Gold (ABG) shareholders have voted in favour of the company’s proposed name change to Acacia Mining, with the new name having come into effect last week.

ABG earlier this month explained that its core objective was to develop a business that was recognised as a leading independent mining company in Africa and that it was important for the company name to reflect this.

Of the company’s 410-million exercisable votes, 367.3-million votes had been cast at the general meeting held to consider the name change.
