PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Ore processing at the Maldon gold operation, in Victoria, has started, owner A1 Consolidated Gold announced on Tuesday.

Prior to restarting ore processing operations at Maldon, A1 Consolidated completed a mill improvement and maintenance programme, which focused on repairing the grinding circuit.

MD Dennis Clark said that the start of ore processing at Maldon was a significant milestone for the company, and would deliver immediate cash flow.

“Since listing on the ASX in June 2012, our primary objective has been to become a profitable and dividend paying gold producer. This is a major step towards achieving this objective.”

The Maldon project was acquired from Octagonal Resources in November of last year, in exchange for A$5.1-million A1 shares. The acquisition included the 150 000 t/y carbon-in-leach processing plant.

First gold pour from Maldon was expected within three weeks.
