JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – TSX-V-listed Volcanic Gold Mines this week released the results of close-spaced air core (AC) drilling at its Mandiana project, in Guinea, which shows potential to significantly increase the resource.

The results, which include 20 m at 6.43 g/t gold (Au), 4 m at 10.4 g/t Au and 12 m at 6.34 g/t Au, expands the near-term resource target from 1 km to over 3 km in length, up to 500 m in width and comprises multiple parallel zones.

The drilling activity occurred directly adjacent to Volcanic's existing inferred mineral resource at Yagbelen.

“This mineralised area is considerably larger than the surface projection of the resource, thereby indicating the potential to significantly increase this resource,” Volcanic president and CEO Jeremy Crozier said.

It is expected that the AC results represent the surface expression of underlying mineralisation, as the maximum downhole depth from collar of AC drilling is 40 m for the entire Yagbelen programme.
