TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Brazilian project developer Verde Potash on Wednesday continued to strengthen its board with the appointment of José Fernando Coura.

Coura, who joined the board following the company’s annual general meeting, is currently the CEO of the Instituto Brasileiro de Mineração (IBRAM - Brazilian Mining Association), Brazil's largest nongovernmental organisation representing the mining industry, and VP of the Federação das Indústrias de Minas Gerais (Association of Industries of Minas Gerais State), a prominent organisation which represents companies from all economic sectors.

Before becoming IBRAM president, Coura's career had been devoted to the mining sector, in which he has held distinguished positions at both the government and corporate levels.

He is a mining engineer with a degree from the School of Mines at the Federal University of Ouro Preto with a specialisation in strategic planning, industrial management and mineral economics.

Verde Potash, which is developing the Cerrado Verde project in the heart of Brazil’s largest agriculture market, the Cerrado, in Minas Gerais state, in May, also appointed mining and finance executive Leonardo Moretzsohn to its board, causing its TSX-listed stock to jump more than 24%.
