JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Dual-listed Tlou Energy last week completed a field acquisition phase, which forms part of its 250 km two-dimensional seismic survey, at its Lesedi and Mamba coal-bed methane projects, in Botswana, with data processing now in progress.

The new seismic data will provide a more accurate picture of the subsurface target coal horizon at the projects, the company said, adding that the data was of “excellent quality”.

“The [data has the] potential to guide us towards the delineation of further gas reserves and contingent resources and enable us to determine the optimum location for the first phase development wells planned for 2018,” said Tlou MD Tony Gilby.

He added that the company’s seismic consultant Velseis was processing the remaining lines, with the final data set to be supplied to SRK, Tlou’s geological consultants, for interpretation.

A report, anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2018, would then follow.
