Key equipment supplier Tenova TAKRAF Africa, incorporating Tenova Delkor, will showcase the new additions to its suite of technologies and equipment at Electra Mining Africa 2016, with highlights including the TAKRAF primary and secondary mineral sizers and the Delkor F.A.S.T. filter press.

Other enhancements to the Tenova TAKRAF Africa product portfolio include the range of Dust Solutions Incorporated (DSI) dust suppression systems, the Magaldi Superbelt technology for high-temperature materials handling, in-house developments, a concrete modular overland conveying system and the semi mobile Bradford Breaker.

Tenova TAKRAF Africa offers technologies and equipment for applications ranging from opencast mining, bulk and specialised materials handling, and air environmental control, to ship loading and unloading. This is supplemented by the Tenova Delkor offering of specialist technologies for solid-liquid separation and mineral processing applications, covering flotation, sedimentation, filtration, screening and gravity separation systems.

Client support services provide comprehensive aftermarket support over the product life cycle for the complete range of Tenova TAKRAF and Tenova Delkor machines.

Mineral Sizer
With the addition of the TAKRAF standardised primary and secondary sizers to its product portfolio, Tenova TAKRAF Africa is now able to integrate its own crushing machines into complete mining solutions for its clients.

Some of the innovative features include the quick and easy changing of crushing segments, as well as the use of advanced wear-resistant materials such as hard-faced segments and tungsten picks. Other notable solutions include an inching drive for roll maintenance, which significantly increases safety, a heavy-duty drivetrain system and an efficient oil lubrication system for greater environmental sustainability. Both sizer product ranges are suitable for the comminution of all material types.

Filter Press
Also on display will be the Delkor F.A.S.T. filter press, a fully automatic filter press that offers flexible operation and low maintenance. The press is suitable for a range of dewatering applications, from minerals concentrates and tailings to very fine materials in the chemicals, iron and steel, food processing and water treatment sectors.

The filter press is a proprietary technology that replaces the complex, hydraulic-operated high-pressure systems for the opening and closing of the plate pack with a simple system combining a pressurised cushion and synchronised screws. This provides numerous advantages, including longer plate and cloth life, no complex load balancing or product contamination from a failing hydraulic system, economic operation, a reduced safety hazard and a smaller footprint.

Air Pollution Control
Increasing legislation to reduce environmental impact has seen ongoing strong demand for Tenova TAKRAF Africa’s air-pollution control technology. The comprehensive selection, from dynamic scrubbers to dry and semi-dry desulphurisation systems, cleans the air over the entire process chain.

The DSI dust suppression systems include the DSI dry fog system and DustTamer wind fence and wind screen systems. Beside their performance, the benefits of the DSI systems include ease of installation, simplified maintenance, flexible system configuration and reduced capital investment and operating costs.

Tenova TAKRAF Africa is the licensed distributor for several global brands focusing on specialised handling solutions. These include the Redler bucket elevators and en-masse conveyors, which are low-maintenance systems that ensure minimal product degradation. They feature dust-tight casings to protect the conveyed material and the environment from mutual contamination.

The newly acquired licence for the Magaldi Superbelt technology enables Tenova TAKRAF Africa to offer conveying technology that can handle extremely hot materials.

In-House Innovation
Highlighting Tenova TAKRAF Africa’s capability to provide new solutions are two products developed in-house, the semimobile Bradford Breaker and the modular overland conveyor.

Bradford Breakers, sold under licence from Terrasource Global in the US, have been extensively applied on South African coal mines since the 1980s. Particularly suitable for junior and small miners, the semimobile Bradford Breaker offers the benefits of a breaker in a more compact machine mounted on a skid. This allows for ease of transport when moving the Bradford Breaker as mining progresses to another block or resource, the ability to position the machine as close as possible to mining operations and reduced civil works.

The Tenova TAKRAF Africa modular overland conveyor consists of concrete modules precast at the project site. The system enhances investment as it is relocatable and reusable. It is safe to use, reducing site work by as much as 80%, and cost effective.
