Strategic Minerals encouraged by Cornwall tin/tungsten drilling results
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed explorer Strategic Minerals and its joint venture (JV) partner are considering methods of expediting the Redmoor tin/tungsten project in south-west England, following better-than-expected drilling results.
Phase 2 of the 2017 drilling programme at the project, held in a JV with New Age Exploration, has delivered “considerably higher-grade intercepts” than previously reported, Strategic Minerals said on Monday.
Nine significant intercepts were reported in the sheeted vein system high-grade zones of the five Phase 2 holes, averaging 8.4 m at 1.34% tin equivalent with peak grades of up to 12.38% tin equivalent.
“The potential for the resource size and grade to improve at depth has opened a substantial opportunity for the project, extending the depth of known mineralisation at Redmoor. These results have encouraged us to further prioritise taking the project to production,” Strategic Minerals nonexecutive director Peter Wale commented.
The company said that it would complete a resource update for Redmoor in the first quarter of next year.
