South African original-equipment manufacturer, Bell Equipment reports that it is has debuted its sixty-ton articulated dump truck (ADT), the B60D, used for transporting loose material such as sand or gravel, at the inaugral bauma Africa, which is running from September 18 to September 21 at the Gallagher Convention Centre, in Midrand.

Following the launch of the B50D, which was released for export at bauma Germany in 2004, the B60D offers a selection of new features, including full articulation and oscillation steering, but differs from a traditional ADT in that it has two driven axles, giving it 4x4 capability to facilitate easy movement over rough terrain.

“With a sixty-ton payload, it will be able to move considerably more dirt than a regular ADT, at a lower cost per ton than comparative rigid haulers. At the same time, the truck offers better off-road capability than a rigid hauler and has the ability to work in worse underfoot conditions to increase days in production,” the company explains.

Bell Equipment marketing manager Stephen Jones says that the company is looking forward to showcasing its products at a show of this magnitude on the African continent. “Apart from our B60D, we will also be displaying our new B50D ejector as well as the E-series ADT and upgraded Fleetm@tic fleet monitoring system, which was well received at bauma Germany, held in Munich, earlier this year,” he adds.

Further, Jones explains that the company is also using bauma Africa to introduce the new Bomag MPH 600 soil stabiliser and asphalt recycler as well as to announce the expansion of its Liebherr range of equipment in Southern Africa to include three larger dozers, the Liebherr PR744, PR754 and PR764 models. "Our stand is alongside our newest partner, Terex Finlay, who will display their range of mobile material processing equipment that Bell distributes in Southern Africa," Jones adds.
