Construction equipment supplier Sandvik has introduced the CH540 cone crusher, a high-capacity, high- quality crusher with a low environmental impact that is ideally suited to quarries or aggregates plants looking to increase production capacity, eliminate bottlenecks, reduce the cost per ton produced and improve the quality of the end product.

The CH540 has a capacity of up to 295 t/h, using a maximum of 250 kW of power. Several standard crushing chambers are available and, therefore, the crusher can easily accommodate changes in production by selecting the right chamber and eccentric throw. There are five chambers available, which separately accommodate extra fine, fine, medium, coarse and extra-coarse material.

Combined with Sandvik’s CH550 crusher, the company is able to provide its customers with adaptability and flexibility, with the crushers easily configured for either secondary or tertiary applications.

“We’ve gained a great deal of knowledge and experience through years spent in quarries around the world. This has enabled us to help customers produce more of what they want, with less waste and at a better profit margin. From perfecting crusher settings to extending equipment lifetime and selecting the right tools for the conditions, our experience has enabled customers throughout the world to make the right choices. Our CH540 and CH550 cone crushers are set to continue this work,” says Sandvik product line manager Martin Johansson.

He stresses that the company’s customers need to be equipped to produce high-quality aggregates in a cost-efficient way, with as few and as short duration maintenance interruptions as possible. “This is now achieved by the CH500 series, which offers a versatile cone crusher that combines a small carbon footprint with high performance.”

Johansson adds that Sandvik has developed the new CH500 crusher series based on valuable input from its customers, reducing the weight and height of the machine while increasing performance.

To deliver greater reduction ratios and productivity than was previously possible, the new CH500 series provides many features that deliver significant benefits, says Sandvik. The series offers high capacity in relation to size and is equipped with the company’s SanRemo automation and control system for crushers. In addition, a dump valve ensures quick, safe tramp relief if something unbreakable enters the crusher and the wear parts have been adapted to ensure more tons produced per set.

The CH500 series also features reduced noise emissions, requires minimum welding and is maintenance friendly, owing to “smart” spare part kits that ensure customers have all the necessary spare parts available.

SanRemo
SanRemo is designed especially for crushers and builds on Sandvik’s highly successful automated setting regulation system. SanRemo ensures that the desired closed side setting is always maintained, compensating for moisture and hardness of feed material.

SanRemo also offers remote monitoring and control capabilities and operational data collection features, with access provided by a cloud solution. This new functionality eliminates guesswork and provides hard data needed to inform business decisions.

SanRemo is offered at three different service levels: bronze, silver and gold. This means that customers can select the functionality that they require, with the flexibility to upgrade when needed.

Sandvik states that SanRemo enhances business certainty by enabling management to monitor exactly how equipment is being used in terms of running hours, empty running, standstills and energy consumption. It also aids accurate forecasts and ensures that the equipment is being used in the most efficient way possible. This monitoring enhances the return on equipment investment, Sandvik adds.

The company has a global reach, with local branches in Gauteng, the North West, the Free State and Mpumalanga.
