The water, sewage, refuse and recycling solutions for mining and construction industries conference, Ifat, will run from May 30 to June 3, 2016, at the Messe München exhibition centre, in Munich, Germany.

Conference organiser Messe München MD responsible for Ifat Stefan Rummel said at a press conference held in Johannesburg, Gauteng, last month that 200 companies wanted to exhibit at Ifat for the first time.

“In addition to that, more than 90% of the exhibitors from the last event have signed up for 2016. This is truly impressive and we are, of course, delighted,” he said.

Ifat is the world’s biggest environmental technology trade fair and all the available exhibition halls and part of the open-air site at Messe München
– 230 000 m2 in total – will be used.

“We are seeing a rise in demand for space, compared with 2014’s show,” he noted.

The level of interest from companies outside Germany was particularly notable. He remarked: “Not only are more of them applying for individual booths but there is also an increase in the number [of companies] wanting to access this market by exhibiting at a joint stand.”

He noted that this extremely positive response from the exhibitors not only highlighted Ifat’s status in the sector but also bore witness to the ongoing immense potential in the environmental technology sector, “which holds great promise for participants at Ifat in 2016”.
