PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diamond miner Lucapa Diamond Company has recovered more large diamonds from its Lulo project, in Angola, including 83 ct and 68 ct Type IIa gems.

In addition, five other 50-plus carat stones were also recovered.

The company said on Thursday that the latest large diamond recoveries followed the return of alluvial mining activities at Mining Block 8, which also produced Angola’s biggest recorded diamond, the 404 ct stone that was sold for $16-million last year.

All of the new large stones will be included in the next parcel of Lulo diamonds to be sold in September this year.
