TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Nevada-focused gold producer Klondex Mines on Thursday said it had appointed Mike Isaak Fire Creek mine manager, Henry Follman Fire Creek senior geologist and Rosa Whisenand financial manager.

Whisenand would also assume the management responsibilities for information technology, purchasing and warehousing and accounting. Follman would join Klondex in mid-July.

“We continue to bolster our team with the addition of high-caliber managers and employees to support our growing operations. Mike, Henry and Rosa will play key roles in the advancement of Fire Creek as we transition from our bulk sampling programme late next year when the full-production permit is expected,” Klondex COO Brent Kristof said.

Isaak brings more than 38 years of experience to Klondex, including extensive knowledge of high-grade, narrow-vein mining, bulk stoping, and under-hand/over-hand cut and fill mining methods.

Over the past 13 years, he had worked for Barrick Gold in roles that have included superintendent of operations, maintenance, and technical services, at their Eskay Creek mine, in British Columbia, and Turquoise Ridge & Cortez Hills mines, in Nevada.

Follman brings more than 35 years of mining experience to Klondex. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in geological engineering from Montana School of Mineral Science and Technology. Over the past eight years, Follman was employed at the Coeur Rochester mine, in Lovelock, where he held both chief and senior geologist positions.

Whisenand brings 14 years of experience to Klondex. She holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in business and in accounting and marketing from Montana State University. She comes to Klondex from Barrick Gold's Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture where her titles included senior cost accountant, business improvement coach and construction project manager. Before joining Barrick Gold, she operated her own accounting business in Winnemucca and worked as a tax accountant.
