PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed explorer KGL Resources has reported an 85% increase in the resource estimate at its Jervois copper project, in the Northern Territory.

The project was estimated to host about 25.3-million tonnes of resource, grading 1.1% copper and 22.1 g/t silver for 280 000 t of contained copper and 18-million ounces of contained silver. Jervois was estimated to host about 120 000 t of lead/zinc and around 113 000 oz of gold.

The increase in the resource estimate followed a drilling campaign, which was launched in September last year, to not only increase the resource at the Marshall-Reward and Bellbird deposits, but also to start resource delineation at the Cox’s Find and Rockface prospects.

“The priority for our recent drilling programme has been to substantially increase the resource and begin to assess the true potential of the project, while identifying high-grade zones at depth that could be amenable to underground mining,” said KGL MD Simon Milroy.

He noted that the drilling programme that was currently under way has begun the process of upgrading the classification of the existing resource and assessing the potential of shallow mineralisation at several other prospects.
