PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior Kalamazoo Resources has reported a 63% increase in the contained metal estimate at its flagship Mixy project, in Western Australia.

The explorer told shareholders that an updated mineral resource has seen an 85% increase in grades and a 13% increase in tonnage at Mixy, with the project now estimated to host a total of 470 000 t, grading 4.3 g/t gold for 65 000 oz of contained gold.

The increased resource estimate has also increased the Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant inventory for the greater Snake Well project by 32%, to 141 000 oz.

Kalamazoo recently completed trial mining at the Mixy deposit, which confirmed that the company’s assumptions around the deposit were accurate.

“If this trend is representative of the entire deposit, then it is reasonable to expect that there is a high confidence in the remaining resource,” said MD Peter Benjamin.

“The trial pit development and production demonstrated that the geological interpretation used in the resource is robust and that the gold grade distribution is reasonably defined by the resource drilling and estimation process.”

Kalamazoo is now planning for the next phase of drilling during the current quarter, which is designed to increase confidence in the resource and to test for extensions to the mineralisation.
