Joest Kwatani, first in its class to exceed the Mining Charter requirement of at least 26% black ownership, is one of the largest original-equipment manufacturers (OEMs) producing custom-engineered vibratory equipment solutions for the African mining sector and beyond.

This fully independent, privately owned South African OEM boasts extensive facilities with an in-house engineering and testing capability, and is committed to growing the African economy through active participation. The company has Level 3 broad-based black economic-empowerment accreditation with 30% black ownership.

Joest Kwatani, recognised for its best practice engineering and manufacturing capability, has an extensive machine population of vibrating screens and feeders operating across a broad spectrum of commodities and industrial applications.

Its core differentiator is its ability to custom engineer fit-for- purpose vibrating equipment to meet specific application requirements. Individual machines engineered for tonnage throughput can weigh up to as much as 50 t and offer a material throughput capacity of up to 7 000 t/h of heavy mineral ores. Currently, the largest screens produced are up to 4.3 m wide or 10 m long.

Joest Kwatani also offers locally manufactured exciter gearboxes and electromagnetic super feeder drives, unbalanced motors in partnership with one of the world’s leading motor manufacturers in Europe and smaller magnetic drives sourced exclusively from AViTEQ in Germany. The company has sustained the Lockers screen and feeder technology brand since acquiring it in 2012 and continues to supply the full product range, including vibrating screens and feeders, round and rectangular fine separators, electromagnetic super feeder drives, controllers, Vimec conveyors and fluidised bed dryers.

Joest Kwatani operates an impressive engineering and manu- facturing facility in Kempton Park, Gauteng. It covers some 17 000 m2 with engineering, manufacturing and assembly, testing and product development facilities, as well as an exciter gearbox and electrical motor assembly and refurbishment operation. An extensive warehouse of spare components ensures lead times are reduced for new built products and spare parts.
