Indonesia's Aneka Tambang (Antam) plans to apply for an additional quota to export 1.25-million tonnes of nickel ore, on top of the 2.7-million tonnes already allocated to the state-owned miner, a company official said.

"Now we are still completing documentation of the verification by an independent surveyor," Antam corporate secretary Apriliandi Hidayat Setia told Reuters on Thursday.

"Once complete, we will apply to the government again." Setia added that the additional ore export quota would be "in accordance with our smelter capacity".

To date, Indonesia has issued export permits for 8.2-million tonnes of annual nickel ore exports.
