Banking, financial and advisory services provider Macquarie Capital Securities (MCS) will participate for the first time in this year’s Investing in African Mining Indaba, as consultant Jim Lennon will deliver a speech to provide delegates with a global update on the current outlook for the world’s commodities.

Lennon tells Mining Weekly that his speech, which is directed at key industry players and investors, is critical in terms of addressing the viability of African mining projects.

“I hope to provide attendees with information that will aid them in decision- making when it comes to investing in the African commodities sector,” he says.

Lennon adds that his speech will give attendees a realistic appreciation of the global investment climate and it will provide them with a market outlook that will highlight – and reaffirm – analysts’ predictions that China will continue to grow.

“The indaba assists with the growth of the African mining industry and with the growth of South African and other African communities by bringing people together to learn about the investment environment,” he says, adding that the event exposes MCS to key industry players and potential clients that the company would otherwise not have been exposed to.
