South Africa-based mining, crushing and screening equipment manufacturer Osborn will attend the 2014 Investing in African Mining Indaba to showcase itself as a leading mining equipment supplier that has been offering locally manufactured equipment for the last 90 years.

The company plans to display and sell products from US-based aggregate and mining equipment manufacturer Astec Industries, of which Osborn is a subsidiary.

“Our offering comprises mainly communication and materials handling products from primary, secondary and tertiary crushing equipment to screening, feeding, conveying and milling equipment,” says Osborn sales director Noel Bessler.

He adds that, while Osborn’s tried and tested equipment is used worldwide, the company’s main source of clientele operates in the harshest mining conditions that Africa has to offer.

As an exhibitor, Osborn will provide the indaba attendees with reading material and will showcase its range of products on electronic media displays.

“It is important to attend the indaba, as it is a forum for companies to exhibit and to impart information to potential end-users in the mining sector,” says Bessler, adding that the company attended all the previous indabas as a delegate and has exhibited at the last two events.

Meanwhile, the company says that attending presentations delivered by other companies and individuals is also valuable, as it presents Osborn with the opportunity to determine where its range of products can be applied. “The company also enjoys listening to various representatives from different countries, who deliver their outlook on the future of the mining industry,” says Bessler.

Further, Osborn tells Mining Weekly that it plans to set up meetings with individual exhibitors, particularly consultants and engineering project houses, which also offer services to end-users in the mining industry.

“We hope that the indaba will enable us to establish new contracts and provide us with opportunities to sell equipment,” he says, adding that interacting with like-minded companies and people in the industry is also valuable in terms of developing the company.

Osborn believes that the Mining Indaba also assists in developing the African mining industry, as it invites potential investors to come together. “The indaba highlights potential opportunities for investors in the African mining industry, and country representatives have the opportunity to allay any investor fears. Further, local companies, such as Osborn, can offer our products to a large audience,” says Bessler.

The 2014 Investing in African Mining Indaba is to take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from February 3 to 6.
