Established in 1984, South Africa-based Eqstra Industrial Equipment (EIE), a division of JSE-listed integrated leasing and capital equipment group Eqstra Holdings, is the largest forklift supplier to the South African market and has the largest product support infrastructure in the region.

EIE provides distribution, leasing, rental and value-added services for materials handling and agricultural equipment in Africa, the UK and Ireland. Its services also include long- and short-term rentals, service and maintenance contracts, sales of new and used equipment and parts, fleet management, operator driver training, load testing and battery bay management.

EIE is the sole distributor in Southern Africa for Toyota Forklift, BT, Raymond and Flexi materials handling equipment, as well as German cleaning equipment manufacturer Hako and German battery original-equipment-manufacturer Hoppecke.

EIE also distributes air compressors, Konecranes heavy-duty forklifts and container handling equipment, Clark forklifts, Same Deutz-Fahr tractors, Fassi cranes, Link-Belt Construction Equipment cranes and JCB industrial and materials handling equipment.

Some of EIE’s biggest customers in the last year include Shoprite, DHL, Woolworths, APM Terminals, Sasol, Bridge Shipping, City of Johannesburg and City of Cape Town, among others.

EIE’s head office is located at 11 Gross street, Tunney Industrial Estate, Elandsfontein, Johannesburg. However, the company has four branches, ten depots and a comprehensive dealer network countrywide, as well as in sub-Saharan Africa, with representation in Botswana, Mozambique, Malawi, Madagascar, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

EIE also has a UK-based operation, Impact Handling, located in Nottingham, and has a comprehensive branch and a dealer network across the UK.
