JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ELB Engineering Services (ELB) has been awarded a contract to set up a 200 t/h dense media separator (DMS) plant at an undisclosed iron-ore mine, in the Northern Cape.

The plant will be capable of handling and beneficiating around one-million tonnes of -32 mm iron-ore a year and will beneficiate lower-grade run-of-mine iron-ore and achieve higher selling prices for certain ore bodies. The processing plant will substantially increase the life-of-mine at the current mining rate.

ELB’s scope of work includes the supply, delivery, erection and commissioning of the complete process plant which includes a degrit plant, thickener and flocculant plant, process and raw water tanks and reticulation, front end material handling as well as product and waste stacker.

The contract includes C5 commissioning to increase iron in the product stream.
