Diatreme's Tick Hill tailings project proves up
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diversified junior Diatreme Resources has reported a maiden mineral resource of 630 000 t, grading 1.08 g/t gold at its Tick Hill tailings project, in Queensland.
The project is estimated to contain some 22 000 oz of gold.
CEO Neil McIntyre said on Tuesday that the resource estimate at Tick Hill built on the recent positive drilling results, which confirmed significant gold mineralisation in the tailings dam at the historically rich mine, along with encouraging results from first stage metallurgical testwork, which showed good cyanide leach recoveries from the regrinding of tailings material.
“Diatreme has been focused on progressing this attractive project as quickly as possible and the mineral resource estimate is another vote of confidence in Tick Hill’s potential.”
McIntyre added that Diatreme was conducting further studies to determine the process flowsheet and develop capital and operating cost estimates.
“The company, in conjunction with its joint venture partner Superior Resources, is now examining methods for the full exploitation of Tick Hill’s gold potential, both internally and with input from external specialist advisers and mining contractors.
“These methods may include, concurrently with the establishment of a tailings processing operation, de-watering of the existing mine workings to recover potentially available material from within the existing mine drives and stopes, and the commencement of new mining activities in high-grade offshoot identified in historical mine exploration records, but not mined during the final stages of full mine closure.”
