A strong Health and Safety culture improves productivity and assists in creating a safe and great place to work. The Health and Safety Dialogue Company Ltd ensures labour force, management, community and all stakeholders are aligned in creating and respecting a safe and healthy working environment. Through workshops and visual campaigns, we bring your Health and Safety Policy to life.

Legislation is designed to protect human life and to enforce safety standards. However, OHS Acts are often complex and difficult to understand especially in areas with low literacy. It is essential as a business to ensure your labour force truly understand the associated risks within their working environment; culture goes beyond ticking training boxes.

Has your organisation considered the importance of promoting a Health and Safety culture? Are you confident your employees are living and working in a safety conscious culture beyond paperwork and legislation?

The vision of the Health and Safety Dialogue Company Ltd is to empower Health and Safety representatives and teams to create fun, engaging campaigns, with easy to use methodologies, which drive a strong health and safety culture.

Using high quality visual content, combined with kinetic and tactical learning, we create the platform to facilitate discussion, debate and employee participation. An organisation with a positive health and safety culture creates the foundation for employee and business success.

Creating a safe and great place to work requires committed leadership and innovation.

5 ideas on how to create a strong health and safety culture:

  1. Create a dialogue with all levels of the organisation including leadership and stakeholders to determine the vision of the safety culture within the organisation. Allow everyone the opportunity to build the vision and communicate the vision effectively.
  2. When using a mascot or metaphor to drive a health and safety culture be certain the symbol is easy to understand and translates across cultures and demographics.
  3. Recognise and reward positive behaviours which showcase a shift in attitude towards safety, rewards do no not need to be financial; a simple gesture or verbal recognition will also have a positive influence on behaviour.
  4. Keep the campaign alive and engaging; remember people learn through visual, verbal, tactile and kinetic methods. Include a variety of tactics to ensure maximum impact.
  5. Make safety fun and creative. Follow legislation, safety standards and internal policies but also encourage attitude change towards the legal requirements by adding fun elements to the process.
