TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Toronto-quoted Energy Fuel on Friday said the executive director of Colorado’s Health and Environment Department affirmed a previous decision in an administrative process required for the reissuance of a radioactive materials licence for the company's Pinon Ridge mill.

On January 15, a hearing officer concluded that the November 2012 administrative hearing on the Pinon Ridge mill, held to augment the administrative record, fully satisfied the requirements of Colorado law.

A group of nongovernment organisations appealed the hearing officer's decision.

Executive director Dr Chris Urbina's decision on Friday denied the appeal, paving the way for a new licence decision.

A licence for the Pinon Ridge mill was issued in March 2011, but was set aside pending the completion of the November 2012 administrative hearing.

Energy Fuels expected a new licence decision on the Pinon Ridge mill by the end of April.

The company also operates the White Mesa uranium mill.

In January, uranium project developer Laramide Resources struck a two-year agreement with Energy Fuels to process material from its fully owned La Sal II uranium mine, in Utah, to process up to 20 000 t at its White Mesa mill during a test phase.

Energy Fuels’ TSX-listed shares traded at 15.5 Canadian cents apiece on Friday.
