Explosives supplier Nordex opened a new sales office at a strategic location in Sudbury, Ontario in Canada, earlier this month, to extend the company’s service provision to operating mines in the area.

“This facility is another step forward in Nordex’s ongoing expansion strategy and will further increase exposure to the company and our proprietary products,” says Nordex.

The growth strategy for Nordex Explosives identifies the need for additional sales staff and an increased presence in Sudbury to solicit new clients and provide better service to existing clients.

The site was chosen owing to its potential for new business opportunities and, in particular, for the application of the Buttbuster line of perimeter control products, manufactured by explosives supplier Johnex, for which Nordex has exclusive manufacturing and distribution rights in Canada.

Nordex also announced in October that the Buttbuster perimeter control products are now available for sale. The company is embarking on an aggres- sive marketing campaign to inform the explosives industry about the use and benefits of this proprietary product line and requires the new Sudbury office to support the introduction of these products.

Sudbury is also suited to provide additional technical and training services for all Nordex products.

“We have been working on this type of initiative for many months as we continue to execute our expansion plans to drive profitable revenue growth in 2014. We also spent considerable time and resources in 2013 to be in a position to manufacture and introduce new product lines and specialised loading equipment,” says Nordex CEO Jim Taylor.

Nordex continues to follow a growth strategy to increase market share and gain cost advan- tages through economies of scale, in addition to sourcing less expensive raw materials to achieve an increase in operating profits.

Nordex is recognised in the field of bulk and packaged emulsion products. This includes the development of bulk emulsion delivery systems for both surface and underground applications.

Nordex has manufactured and distributed explosives for the mining, quarry and road construction industries since 1970. Its manufacturing operations and distribution centre are strategically located in one of the world’s largest mining regions near Kirkland Lake in Ontario, Canada.
