PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Beadell Resources has completed the installation and commissioning of the ball mill at its Tucano plant, in Brazil, two weeks ahead of schedule.

The installation of the ball mill is one of four key areas being undertaken as part of the Tucano plant upgrade, along with the installation of pre-leach thickener, carbon-in-leach (CIL) tank, and an oxygen plant that will result in an increased sulpide ore processing capacity.

Beadell said on Monday that the Tucano plant would now be ramping up to increase sulphide ore content from around 30% to around 80% of the total ore processed, with recoveries forecast to remain at around 88% until the completion of the pre-leach thickener in early November.

The completion of the additional CIL tank and oxygen plant remained on track for late October and early November respectively.

Beadell in July terminated the project management contract for the Tucano plant upgrade, with the company’s site personnel now having the responsibility to complete the project.

Meanwhile, Beadell on Monday said the mobilization of the new mining contractor U&M Mineracao e Construcao remains on track, with total material mined having increased by 71% from July until the end of August.
