Banding and Identification Solutions South Africa
Banding and Identification Solutions South Africa, which was founded in 1996 as BAND-IT RSA, is an importer, manufacturer and distributor of stainless steel products from US band clamping technology firm BAND-IT-Idex.
The BAND-IT product range provides speciality clamping solutions for use in virtually every industry. The unique combination of engineering expertise, high-quality materials, manufacturing capabilities and state-of-the-art application tools, provide fastening, bundling, clamping and identification systems that are second to none.
Banding and Identification Solutions South Africa’s major product line is stainless steel strapping and buckles, manufactured from 304 grade stainless steel, under licence from BAND-IT.
A roll of stainless steel band, a tool and a box of buckles are the ideal solution in most clamping applications, as they securely fasten dissimilar materials, odd shapes and difficult objects, while eliminating the need for brackets. Application is fast, easy and inexpensive. Stainless steel is also able to withstand extreme temperatures and corrosive conditions.
Banding and Identification Solutions South Africa recently completed a major contract at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, in Johannesburg. Its strapping kit was used for the circuit’s tyre wall barrier, with the company providing 2 548 rolls of grade 304 stainless steel strapping and 32 300 buckles for the project.
Locally produced strapping and buckles are available in widths of 6.35 mm, 9.53 mm, 12.70 mm, 15.88 mm and 19.05 mm. The strapping thicknesses are 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm.
A product that is relatively new to the local market is the Ultra Lok preformed clamping system, which is designed for applications where consistent high tension clamps are required.
The Boksburg, Gauteng-based company also offers a range of identification products, which includes stainless steel embossing systems, ‘easy read’ individual letters, numbers and symbols, as well as identification tags and fully programmable pin marking equipment.
For cable fixing and identification in the electrical industry, Banding and Identification Solutions South Africa offers a variety of coated and uncoated 316 grade stainless steel products. Products are coated in performance polymer alloy coating, a nontoxic polymer coating, which provides an assurance of low smoke and zero halogen when subjected to fire.
Banding and Identification Solutions South Africa’s premises are located in Lakeview Business Park, Yaldwyn road, Jet Park, occupying 500 m2 of rented space.
John Yorke and Terry O’Kelly own the business through family trusts and employ 12 people.
BAND-IT holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS 16949 certificates.
