PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Ark Mines has been granted approval from the Northern Territory’s Department of Mines and Energy to start mining activities at its Golden Honcho gold project.

Ark told shareholders on Tuesday that the company intended to start a drilling programme at Golden Honcho as soon as it has concluded a contract with a drilling contractor.

The company had issued contractor tenders and was awaiting responses.

The company was hoping to extend the strike length and further define the size of the Golden Honcho deposit, with the aim of defining a high-grade shallow oxide gold deposit.

On the completion of the first round of drilling, Ark intended to initiate a second phase of drilling with a view to defining a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource at Golden Honcho and at the Golden Slips deposit.
